Telephone therapy allows you to do inner work in the environment where you feel the most comfortable: home, backyard, vacation spot or office. When doing phone or any type of on-line therapy, it is important to schedule appointments when you can be assured of privacy in your chosen location for quiet and confidentiality.
One of the advantages of phone and on-line therapy is flexibility of scheduling. It is not limited to week-day hours or work-week days. Clients can set appointments to fit their schedules including after work and weekends when most therapist's offices are closed. Sessions can often be on the spur of the moment, or in the heat of a crisis. Imagine being able to call your therapist minutes before taking an exam at school or making a presentation at work!
Many clients say working on the phone gives them a deeper freedom of expressing themselves. Initially, some clients are concerned they won't feel as connected with the therapist as thy would in face-to face therapy--but by the end of the first session , are surprised to find that this is not true. Video or facetime sessions are always an option.
EMDR by phone or video: You will be sent an audio and an eye movement video tape to use during the EMDR session. When doing EMDR, I encourage clients to check in by email or phone between sessions if there is a need. I do not charge for e-mail or under 15 minute phone consults between sessions.
